Acadia Computer Science Team Top Canadian Team

At the APICS Math/CS conference on October 15 two Acadia teams competed against 18 other Atlantic provinces university teams in our local computer programming competition.  Team Acadia Blue (Matthew Penney, Alex Sanford and Ryan Wooden) came second, and Acadia Red (Jake Bruce, Tyler Corbin and Lucas Mannell) came sixth.  Acadia was the only university to place two teams in the top six.

By virtue of being in the top two, Acadia Blue was able to move on to the next competition, the Northeast North America Regional Contest. That competition was held on November 6, 2010 in Rochester, New York.  While perennial favourite MIT won again, Acadia Blue took seventh place by solving two problems in 217 minutes.

Acadia Blue beat ALL OTHER Canadian teams at the competition (McGill, St. Marys and UNB), and was only one minute behind the sixth-place team.
