Congratulations to Meghan Todd!

The School of Nutrition and Dietetics (SND), and members of the Canadian Association for Food-Service Professionals (CAFP) Acadia Branch congratulate Meghan Todd on her successes this year within the School and in the community of Wolfville.

At the CAFP annual awards banquet in Halifax on March 21 it was Meghan Todd Night! Meghan received the CAFP Gold Plate Award, the ARAMARK Team Leadership Award, and a Bob Taylor Memorial Fund sponsored Special Recognition Award. The Gold Plate Award recognizes scholastic achievement, Association involvement, industry experience, and commitment to the foodservice industry. The ARAMARK Team Leadership Award is given for dedication, enthusiasm, and leadership to CAFP. The Special Recognition Award, created especially for Meghan was to commend her efforts in creating the Acadia University CAFP branch.

Further to profession-related awards, Meghan was awarded the Acadia Student Union Leadership Award, and was named theTown of Wolfville's Volunteer of the Year. So, what has she been up to, this Meghan Todd?

Meghan founded the Acadia University’s CAFP Student Branch in 2012, and served as its first President during 2012-13. She guided a dedicated Executive and successfully built the membership to 28 students. She will continue in this role in 2013-14. Beyond the food and nutrition field, Meghan served as the Acadia Student Union (ASU) Volunteer Coordinator aiding students in creating and sourcing volunteer opportunities, and ran the most successful Shinerama campaign to date during the 2012 Frosh Week. Meghan is passionate about raising funds and awareness toward a cure for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). During the Summer of 2012, she trained for and participated in ‘The Big Swim’, swimming 13 kms from New Brunswick to PEI in honour of her friend, Carter, who lives with CF.

Congratulations Meghan! We look forward to what the future has in store for you and what you have in store for us all!
