Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Weather)

Today, Monday, February 23, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the forecasted weather. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours due to the weather and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Acadia Physics Dream Team

Nine members of the Acadia Physics Society participated in the Atlantic Undergraduate Physics and Astronomy Conference which was hosted this year by St. Francis Xavier University, on 4 – 6 February 2011.  During the NSERC awards presentation, the fact that 3 of the 5 NSERC awards were won by Acadia students was given recognition by the master of ceremonies who interjected with, “and rounding out the Dream Team from Acadia”, prior to awarding first place to Daniel Webber.

NSERC Awards

1st -      Daniel Webber (Acadia), “Development and Characterization of a Near-IR    Cathodoluminescence Detector”

2nd -     Benjamin Scheifele (St. Francis Xavier), “Heterogeneous Nucleation in the Ising Model”

3rd -      Jessie Harlow (Dalhousie), “The Effect of Mo on Ni de-alloying from a Pto.23Ni0.73Mo0.02 Catalyst”
