Student presenters and their research topics (based on course assignments or Honours thesis* work) included:

At the CFDR event:

  • Alberto Accardi (A conceptual framework on access to food in the Canadian Arctic)
  • Colleen O’Leary (The development of a conceptual framework to address the challenges of dysphagia management for people living in residential care)
  • Cuie Yan (Interdisciplinary integration of omega-3 fatty acids research findings into dietetic practice)
  • Kavanagh Danaher (Nutrition knowledge and practices of varsity coaches at a Canadian university*)

At Living Inquiry:

  • Elizabeth Garrett (The phenomenology of perseverance)
  • Samantha Cohen (Ethics of participatory action research on food security related projects: experiences and lessons learned*)

The faculty of the School of Nutrition and Dietetics congratulates these students on their first forays into professional presentations at national research events.

Faculty members Barb Anderson, FDC, Connie Foote, and Dr. Catherine Morley, FDC presented and hosted lively discussion groups at the Dietetics Educators’ meeting on the SND’s philosophy of ‘Food at the centre of a dietetics curriculum’. Catherine presented on ‘The invalid’s dietary: It’s presence in the present?’ at the CFDR event, and ‘Filmmaking 101’ on the DC conference program.
