Acadia Environmental Science Student Volunteers at the Olympics

When the 2010 Winter Olympic Games came to Vancouver, BC this past February, Allison Healey saw a perfect opportunity to have the experience of a lifetime as an Olympic Volunteer. "From driving dignitaries to events or enjoying the pavilions in downtown Vancouver, to sneaking into the Canada-Russia hockey game, it was certainly three weeks that I will never forget" said Healy. Always a keen student, Allison also managed to spend some time learning about the environmental issues surrounding the Olympics, including the expansion of the Sea-to-Sky Highway and the development of Cypress Mountain for the freestyle skiing and snowboard events. Acknowledging the support of her professors at Acadia, Allison extends "Thanks to all my professors who were extremely accommodating in letting me miss class and experience the Winter Games!"
