Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Weather)

Today, Monday, February 23, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the forecasted weather. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours due to the weather and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Public Seminars - International Year of Chemistry

Acadia University is pleased to host speakers from the International Year of Chemistry Public Seminar Series.

This year's worldwide theme is "Chemistry - Our Life, Our Future".

Dr. Joe Schwarcz, Director of McGill University's Office for Science and Society.  Dr. Schwarcz offers a unique enterprise with a mandate of demystifying science for the public, the media and students. He is well known for his informative and entertaining public lectures on topics ranging from the chemistry of love to the science of aging. His lecture is entitled "Are Cows More Trustworthy than Chemists?".

Dr. Pierre Beaumier, President of CanAlt Health Labratories. Dr. Beaumier has over 34 years of experience in the field of analytical chemistry. As one of the founders of Maxxam Analytics, Canada's largest private analytical testing laboratory, he has been at the forefront of the innovations in the areas of the development of testing methods, improving analytical accuracy, and quality systems and standards. His lecture will focus on hair analysis through screening for essential minerals and toxic elements and is entitled "Hair: A Mirror on Your Health".
